Over the past 40 years, survival and quality of life for cancer patients have slowly improved. Survival has increased 20% in blood related cancers. Yet, treatment of solid tumors have shown significantly less progress, despite breakthroughs in understanding cancer's development and an increasing number of available therapies.
Surprisingly unique in their response, solid tumors aggressively alter their molecular status based on their response to treatment. 75% of individual drug prescriptions are not effective for the patient; absent effective diagnostics, therapy selection is still largely trial and misguided error.
